2007 World Series Umpire Crew Announced PDF Print E-mail

Major League Baseball has announced the umpires for the 2007 World Series, which opens October 24 at Boston.

Ed Montague will work his sixth World Series (1986, 91, 97, 2000, 04) and will be WS crew chief for the fourth time. His post-season experience includes six Division Series and eight League Championship Series and he has worked four All-Star Games. Montague, who lives in northern California, will work the plate in Game One and Game Seven if necessary.

Mike Reilly will work the right field line in the Opening Game. This will be Reilly’s fourth World Series (1984, 92, 2002). Reilly is a regular season crew chief and a 31-year veteran. His experience includes three All-Star Games, five Division Series, and eight League Championship Series. Reilly resides in Michigan.

Chuck Meriwether
is a 16-year MLB veteran and this will be his second Fall Classic (2004). Meriwether has also umpired two All-Star Games, six Division Series and two LCS. A resident of Tennessee, Meriwether be at third base in Game One.

Three umpires will be working their first World Series.

Ted Barrett
has worked five Division Series since joining the MLB staff in 1999 and worked the 2005 American League Championship Series. He also went to Japan in 2004 with the MLB All-Star tour. Barrett, who has 11 years of MLB experience, will work second base in the Opening Game. He lives in Arizona.

Mike Everitt, a nine-year veteran, has worked four Division Series, including the last three in a row. His experience also includes League Championship Series in 2002 and 03 and the 2006 All-Star Game. Everitt, who resides in Iowa, will work the left field line in Game One.

Laz Diaz, also a nine-year veteran, will be at first base for Game One. His post-season experience includes the 2002 and 06 Division Series and he umpired the 2000 All-Star Game during his second MLB season. Diaz lives in Florida.
