We have had many visitors. Jimmy Lee Solomon executive VP baseball operations, Darryl Hamilton baseball ops, Laurel Preib  VP Western ops, Paul Runge retired NL umpire and past NL umpire supervisor.

Speakers during the week were Jack Oujo covering financial awareness. Tom Christopher, from MLB security, gave a presentation on security. Kent Biggerstaff, former trainer with the Pittsburgh Pirates, currently working with the PGA Tour and with Impact testing. Kent did sessions on nutrition and had the students do impact testing. This test is the same test that MLB umpires, NFL and NHL use to judge the severity of concussions and determine when the athlete or umpire is fit to return to work.

The camp could not go on without the help of Darrell Miller, executive director Compton Urban Youth Academy, and his staff of Ken Landreaux, James Bishop, Eldridge Eaton, Zaida Aguila. I’m, sure I missed someone but the staff was awesome to work with.

On The first Sat. we put on a free clinic for the local associations.  There were some 150 attendees and they were broken into 3 groups doing plate work in the cages, situations and positioning.  These groups of umpires were treated to the wisdom of Paul Runge as he made his way around the fields.  Jim McKean spent the day hitting fungoes.
