Tuesday, 22 May 2007
ImageMike Reilly became the 17th Major League umpire in history to work 4,000 MLB games on Tuesday, May 22 in Detroit. He joined active umpires Bruce Froemming, Ed Montague and Jerry Crawford on the list. Crawford reached the 4,000-game plateau earlier this season.

Reilly joined the MLB staff in 1977 and is working his 31st season. He has umpired three All-Star Games, five Division Series, eight League Championship Series, and the 1984, 1992, and 2002 World Series.

Many friends and family of Reilly saw his 4,000th game since it took place in his home state. Reilly resides in Battle Creek, Michigan.
